The question was, How much would the Giants miss his sixteen home runs?
The answer is that the issue has not arisen. Currently the Giants are on pace to end the season with one fewer home run than last season. Brandon Crawford’s emergence as a power hitter (he has eight home runs) and Brandon Belt’s recent explosion (seven big flies in his last 25 games) have helped, but so has the fact the both Duffy and Joe Panik have hit four round-trippers.

Aoki has been dynamic as the lead-off hitter, having reached base in all five trips to the plate on Saturday. He leads the club in hitting with a .324 average (68 hits in 210 at-bats) and has scored 25 runs, only three behind co-leaders Joe Panik and Brandon Crawford. He leads the team with twelve stolen bases (Angel Pagan is second with four) and if anything, he has been criticized for being too aggressive on the bases.
一方の青木は、リードオフとして十二分に機能している。土曜日には5打席すべてで出塁した。現在打率.324はチーム内トップで、25得点は同トップタイのジョー・パニックとブランドン・クロフォードに3得点差で3位だ。12盗塁もチーム内トップ（2位のエンジェル・パガーンは4個でしかない）。どちらかと言えば、走塁で積極的すぎると批判されるほどだ(訳者注 現在盗塁死が5つもあることを指している)。

マイケル・モースが走塁で積極的すぎるとは誰も言っていなかった（訳者注 モースにはそもそも脚力がなかった）。したがって、モースを青木に入れ替えたのもセイビアンの成果だ。
シーズンの先は長いが、ジャイアンツがあえて下した昨オフの動きは奏功しているといえそうだ。
